Stepping Stone

It is March 2022. We start our Youtube channel. We just sold our house and businesses. Our first film is about our beloved tiny house in the woods, where we spend parts of the year. The film is an ode to the beautiful and colorful meadow that we have been staring at for years

First Trip

In April 2022, we bought a campervan and started traveling. We documented all our travels. We published a film every week. Our first season is all about slowing down. We have a vague plan to go and find our dream house along the mediterranean coastline. But we don't know exactly what we were looking for.

Our first plot makes us fantasize about a free and adventurous life… but it is not really realistic.

It is an inspiring and motivating journey. We quickly get the taste of travelling, freedom and camper life.

Our first trip lasted three and a half months, in which we visited Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece. We visited many properties and get a good picture of the real estate market in the different countries.

Returning Home

We return to our home in Amsterdam and contemplate our journey. A few things have become clear: we don't want to be in a climate that is too hot, not too cold and not too far away from our children. And although our hearts are in Greece, we decide that Italy is a great country to continue our search..

Second Trip

Our second trip takes us along the Ligurian coastline. We have a detailed plan and a large number of potential houses plotted on the map in advance.
Together with our real estate agent Carla we visit a number of promising properties..

We find a dazzling property in Ospedaletti.

We are really enthusiastic about this property.

San Bernardo

We are returning to Amsterdam for Christmas. The search has not yielded what we expected. We have set the bar too high. A house with land, privacy and sea view is not within our financial reach. There is a property in San Bernardo however that makes our hearts beat faster.

But since we are doubt about the property, we decide to ask our community what they think about it. The outcome is unanimous.

Back to the Drawing Board

This throws us back to the drawing board. We realize that it is indeed too far fetched. If only we were thirty years younger, we would have done this. We return to Amsterdam for family matters.

What is most important? We are called back to Amsterdam for urgent business.

Third Trip

We have found that having friends in the area is the most important thing for us at this point in our lifes. That is why we travel back to Umbria, to our dear friends Giovanni and Hermelyn. We try to find a suitable property in that area.

Decision

After this trip we know what we are looking for. We have succeeded in our mission. We want a solid house, easily accessible, close to friends and affordable. The choice has been made.

We make a mathematical decision.

For half a year our focus is on renovating our family home. We are not very busy with Youtube.
